As of today, 4-3-23, there are 16 full hookup sites available in the Raven Hill Camping area (Sites 1-25) for $25 a night. There are also several electric water only sites available near the full hook-up sites (Sites 26-49). for $20 a night. There are also some screened in shelters and 1 cabin still available, although they are not next to the Raven Hill camping area. Check the park map to see the campsite locations, https://tpwd.texas.gov/publications/pwdpubs/media/park_maps/pwd_mp_p4505_044g.pdf. I also noticed that full hookup site 7 is currently available Fri/Sat night and full hookup site 14 is available We/Thur - if someone doesn't mind moving to have a full hookup site all 4 nights. Or if you are coming in for only Fri/Sat night, take a look at site 7. Huntsville State Park is right on the lake and most of the sites have trees! Take a look at the sites when you book them, as there are pictures of all the sites in the details when booking.
Everyone will be booking their own site, so you can use your State Parks Pass to keep from paying the $7 per person per day daily entry fee and get the second night of camping 50% off. This allows everyone the chance to use the State Parks Pass. These sites are also open to the general public, so I recommend booking early.
Reserve by phone: Call (512) 389-8900 Monday - Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
Reserve online: https://texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com/
If you don't have one, a state park pass can be purchased for $70, to save daily entry fees and provide camping discounts. With the pass, the second night of camping would be discounted $12.50.
Without the pass: The daily day use fee is:
$7 per day, per person 13 and older.
Let me know if anyone is interested in doing the grilling for the rally as the club were to provide the meat.
State parks are filling up fast, so we wanted to allow everyone to book their site.
Thanks,
Rhonda

This will be a no-host rally with no catered meals and no group activities, just like at Blanco. Just come as you are, bring whatever food/drink you like, and we will all just congregate together and enjoy the shade, or the fire, depending on the weather.
I will be the "host" of this no-host rally as I have reserved spots for us under my name and credit card so that we could get the spots we wanted for the dates we wanted. I especially wanted to include a weekend for the working folks and getting a weekend at a state park is pretty tough, so I just decided to take the bull by the horns and get the spots reserved. This means you will need to go thru me to get your spot, not the park.
(11:40 on 10/24/22). Those 10 sites already taken. Sites 17-20 are currently available. Go here to reserve:
https://texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com/lockhart-state-park/r/facilityDetails.do?contractCode=TX&parkId=1200040&_ga=2.94763420.1054018945.1666566887-1117969710.1650465992
Most of us will be arriving Weds the 25th but you can come whenever you like and stay however long you like.
Please let me know if you do reserve one of these and the site number so I that I will know who all is coming for headcount purposes. Also, if someone in our club should cancel, then I can perhaps move you up to a full hookup site.
LSP is pretty small but I have 4 full hookup spots and 3 electric & water only spots still available. Some are for Weds arrival and some are for Thurs arrival as I was not sure what everyone would want as far as cost. I know this is a small number but I have all the full hookup spots that they have reserved except 2 that were already taken.
We had a great time in Sept at BSP and everyone there agreed we like this new format going forward, so here goes. Scott Nutter has graciously agreed to be our grillmaster again for hamburgers, hot dogs and brautwurst at the park. He's sure to set something on fire again and you won't want to miss that!
The club will provide all the food for our grilling so no need to bring anything there unless you want to add some of your own personal cooking and that is welcome. I guess I gotta make a Costco run!
You can contact me via email or phone at 512.924.5646 WRT availability and payment. I hope you can join us!

There is no schedule, planned activities, or catering. We'll all to be together with our common interests. We'll talk GMCs and have fun being together. Just come as you are, bring whatever food/drink you like, and we will all just congregate together and enjoy the shade.
Blanco State Park (BSP) has 13 RV slots available as of today, June 19. We cannot group reserve them for our club as at a private RV place, so if you intend to join us, you will need to get your reservations ASAP. Some slots have sewer and water and some are electric-only, but there is a campsite dump station should your spot not have full hookups. Some of us tried BSP out several weeks ago when the GMCMI rally was cancelled and we had a great time. Since nobody has stepped up to host either a summer or fall rally, here's a chance to try something different. I hope you will be able to join us there!
You don't have to stay all the nights - come and go as you please. You can make reservations here:

You DO NOT have to call the American RV Park in Corsicana to make your reservations as we have done in the past. The Park has recently installed a new computer system which allowed us (Reg and I) to make all the reservations in a block; however, when you arrive at the park, you will need to check-in at the office and choose your parking site. When you complete your stay, you will check-out at the office and settle-up your account as normal. When planning to attend the rally, there are plenty activities for everyone around Corsicana. You may want to consider coming a day or two early to visit one or more of the following:
Russell Stover Candies and Navarro Pecan Company do not have tours; however, both have outlet stores.
There is a VF Outlet Mall next to Russell Stover and the I-45 Collin Street Bakery location.
Some may enjoy going to a night production at the Palace Theatre (cost according to production) or the Cook Center Planetarium (seniors in groups of 10 or more - tickets $3).
For wine enthusiast, Angelita Vineyard & Winery may be a place to visit for a wine tasting. |

Janie noticed that her GPS tended to take her on a wild goose chase when trying to get to the I-35 RV Park. Ya just can't always trust those things! Just to make sure everyone knows how to get to the park without having to back track, ... If you're headed north, get off at exit #346, go up to the next overpass, crossover to the southbound access road and continue to the park.Southbound traffic exit at #346 and the park will be on the right in about a mile. We're looking forward to getting together with all of you next week. Don't get lost! :-)

It was a very old but very well kept and clean RV park with a terrific meeting hall. It blended right in with the particular charm of Glen Rose. I'd be happy to go back again someday. Even though it was really cold for a couple of days, we all had fun catching up and talking GMCs.

Hostless Rally
|
Mon 1/23/2012Other GMC clubs have pioneered the concept of a “No Host Rally” and we are going to give it a try this summer. Penny Buenger and I (Debbie Massey) will be coordinating the activities. If you will volunteer for an activity, we will put the word out to get volunteers to help you if you need them!We will have the 3 catered meals in the evenings, the Tech Session, and the Classy Ladies social if Jackie Isenhour wishes to have one at that rally. Sometimes in past summer rallies we have not had a ladies’ social so it is entirely up to Jackie. We will not be having a continental breakfast. We are asking for volunteers to bring baked goods. This will eliminate a member having to go to town each morning, at least 20 miles, to buy donuts, etc. Someone could even volunteer to head up a Pancake Breakfast one morning. Any volunteers? What we are trying to do is take the pressure off the rally hosts and make it more of a group effort. We don’t want you to think that you have to volunteer to do a lot of work. We want to keep it simple. Volunteer to lead a new game, one that you enjoy and would like to share. Remember, we will find volunteers to help you! Volunteer to clean tables one night or sweep the floor. How about doing a craft? We would love for you to bring something new to the rally. I know there are lots of you that have talents that we do not know about. Share them with us! Are you a camera buff? Guitar player? Invite others to bring their instruments! Would you like to give a demonstration of your hobby? How about showing a good movie in the afternoon? Let us know if there is an activity that piques your interest or if there is someone that you would like to see head up a particular activity. We would like this rally to be full of new and fun activities. This is your club and we want you to share your passion with us. We are looking forward to a great summer rally! Many thanks!Debbie Massey and Penny BuengerPlease send an email to debbie@bdub.net with your ideas or suggestions, and especially if you are volunteering. We know it is early and you may not be sure you are going to attend, but let us hear from you anyway. We can always make changes later. We want your ideas and participation! We need volunteers for:

This was a great rally! Too much excitement Thrusday morning when Bruce and Georgene's coach caught fire but we all pitched in and hopefully made it a little better. It didn't slow them down much and they'll have t back in shape soon. We had lots of fun visiting and playing with all our GMC Family. We really didn't want to leave.
We had the best WiFi service that we've ever had at a campground. It was flawless!
Here's a quote from Chuck Ellis:Rally was great, started off cold and wet, ended up warmer fast and fun. Several folks had problems from severed brake lines to faulty isolators and alternators, fan clutch and squealing fan belts. Due to the chilly weather there was a great deal of discussions on best methods for heating the coaches with electric heaters. Just exactly what we needed, another darn decision to be made!!! A bonfire resulting from faulty electric wiring in Bruce and Georgene's coach, pretty much damaged or took out the interior from the drivers seat back. Near disaster but no one was injured and were able to drive it home. Lots of folks pitched in and did an excellent job of cleaning it out and making it ready for departure. Food was good with lots of left overs for some to munch on for lunch the next day. The birthday bash was a roaring success and I was able to obtain a fantastic new hair piece with out painful surgery.
Lexie and I personally enjoyed the outcome from the Bolo contest, thus enabling us to recoup our Bingo losses. This was our first round trip without our hearts in our throat from near engine fuel failure problems. The fuel gauge took its last breath but who cares.
Looking forward to Patterson, LA gathering.

Very nice park with excellent amenities. Had some trouble getting arrangements made but turned out to be very nice. We all had a great time.

Subject: Pre-Rally visit to Guthrie OK
Nine of us went to Guthrie for four days, endured 10 inches of rain and scrambled out just before they closed the bridge due to flooding, to scout out Guthrie for our next rally. In spite of the weather we all had a great time. If you like history, shopping, great eating, did I say antique mall shopping, historic old buildings, interesting folks and museums of all sorts - you are going to love Guthrie.
You might want to consider coming early or staying a couple of extra days. The website www.guthrieok.com will give you a head start. The itinerary will be on the Classics' website as soon as we can squeeze everything into it. It is really hard to know what to leave out!
Y' all put the Guthrie Classics GMC Rally (October 25-28. 2007) on your list of things to do and places to go.
